Today I'll be taking a look at what I've been doing, what I am doing, and what I will soon be doing. Let's get to it!
UPDATE 4/26/18: There were some medical issues that my family had to deal with, and so everything I mention in this post, such as the schedule for my upcoming reviews, has been pushed back by a couple of weeks.
I really enjoyed taking a look at all of the Madness related stuff for Dungeons and Dragons in March, and having a theme was fun and helped me stay focused so I'll probably do that again. Leave a comment, shoot me an email, or message me on Twitter if you have any suggestions.
Otherwise, I didn't get to play a lot of board games or role-playing games last month, but that is looking to change soon, so hopefully I'll have some interesting stories to tell here and on social media.
Towards the end of last month I got involved in a Tomb of Annihilation game as a player, so hopefully that will continue this weekend and beyond. If it does I'll probably talk about that some here.
As for boardgaming, I joined a Facebook group for a local game club, but it doesn't look like things are very active there at the moment. Hopefully that isn't the case, but even if it is maybe I can still manage to drum up some excitement and get some more games and gaming in because of it.
I started an Instagram account where I plan to post pictures of boardgaming, role-playing, miniature painting, and general geekiness, so feel free to take a look and follow me over there if you're in to that sort of thing.
Also, I'm still listening to the Boardgames in Bed podcast. It's really fun to listen to and you should just check it out already!
Recently I've been working on yet another custom character sheet for 5E Dungeons and Dragons, this time a full, two-sided affair, unlike my previous attempt at a one-sided sheet. This is another "generic" character sheet, but I have plans to make some class and race specific sheets. I've also been toying around with the idea of a "fold-in-half" character sheet, which is really just a sideways two-sided character sheet that you would fold in the middle to make a little booklet out of. I'll post most if not all of this stuff here, but also, if I can find the time to do all of this and actually like what I end up with, I may compile everything into a PDF and post if for sale on either the DM's Guild or DriveThru RPG.
I have several things that I am looking forward to reviewing in the coming weeks, but here are a couple of the more interesting things on the docket:
Sometime next week I should have a review up of Whispers From the Void, LoreSmyth's highly anticipated sequel to The Claws of Madness. Everything I've seen from LoreSmyth thus far has been top-notch with a high production value, so I'm really excited to dig in to this adventure. In the meantime, you can check out my review of the first adventure, The Claws of Madness, right here.
Close on the heels of that review, I'll be taking a look at Dwarven Traders, a board game from 2D6.EE Games that will be coming to Kickstarter on April 30th, which just arrived in the mail moments ago! Briefly, Dwarven Traders looks to be a light game for 2 - 4 players that takes about thirty minutes to play. Game-play involves mining and selling gems of different types and values, with each action affecting the future value of the different gem types. That's about all I know about it right now - stay tuned for a more in-depth analysis though!
Finally, I may also decide be running some games soon, either in person or online or both. Right now I don't want to commit to anything more than a one-shot or two, but hopefully this pans out. Currently I'm thinking I want to do something with FATE, and by "something" I mean I want to do an urban fantasy detective sort of thing and basically rip off some interesting Angel and Buffy episodes to pull things off. If this becomes a reality I'll definitely talk about it here.
That's it for now!
